School of Medicine researchers have received a $9 million grant to investigate blood-clotting disorders. From heart attacks and strokes to uncontrolled bleeding, clotting disorders annually cause more deaths in the United States than all types of cancer combined.

In 1827, a young giraffe named Zarafa was shipped from the Sudan to Paris, where her arrival caused an immediate sensation. That true history forms the basis of Zarafa, an animated French film. This weekend, the Center for the Humanities and the Film and Media Studies Program, both in Arts & Sciences, will screen Zarafa as part of the Ninth Annual Children’s Film Showcase.

The annual Olin Sustainability Case Competition kicks off at 4 p.m. today in Simon Hall. This year’s case will revolve around vacant land use in St. Louis. Open to all WUSTL graduate and undergraduate students, the competition is a chance to learn about practical, real-world applications of corporate responsibility and sustainability concepts.

WUSTL Sports Hall of Fame members Teri Clemens and Stan London, MD ’49, will be inducted into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame at an Enshrinement Dinner Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Millennium Hotel. Clemens previously coached volleyball and London is a former student-athlete.
